Senior Internal Communications Manager
Birmingham, West Midlands (with hybrid working)

We’re looking for a senior internal communications professional to join our high-performing team in our quest to deliver best-in-class communications to our colleagues. You’ll be experienced in designing, delivering, and evaluating campaigns – whether that’s to inspire people, motivate them to act or change behaviours.

You’ll be passionate about great communications and the employee experience - and the important role you play in listening to and championing our colleagues’ stories and enriching their journey with us. You'll use audience data and insight to decide on tactics and work with the wider team to create content for use across our channels all with the aim of continuing to make the Gambling Commission a great place to work.

You’ll have excellent relationship-building skills, working with internal stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes on shared goals.

The Benefits:

- Salary of circa £53,000
- Civil service pension, with an employer contribution rate of 27%

- 26 days’ holiday, rising to 29 days after two years’ service, with the option to buy up to five days extra annual leave

Key Responsibilities:

- You’ll play an active role in the development and delivery of the Commission’s internal communications vision.
- You’ll be key in taking the team on the next stage of our journey to deliver outstanding internal communications.
- You’ll have the scope to look at how we can continuously improve our offering, ensuring we remain at the forefront and are reviewing the latest trends in internal communications.
- You’ll be leading the delivery of some of our most exciting projects, including Great Place to Work, high-profile change programmes and our internal colleague events.
- You’ll be part of a great team, working closely with our external and digital communications, and public affairs.
- You’ll line manage our Internal Communications Officer and support other members of the team in developing their skills and helping them to achieve their career ambitions.
- Additionally, you will be encouraged to take ownership of your own personal development, as you will be supported by a team that recognises the value of professional development, which includes corporate membership of IoIC and CIPR.

Person Specification

Essential:

- An experienced internal communications professional with a background of working in a multi-disciplinary communications team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven experience of communicating key messages to audiences in a creative way using a variety of methods.
- Experience in leading on the development and delivery of change communications, with a focus on supporting colleagues through the change process.
- Strong planning skills which contribute to an overarching internal communications plan for the organisation.
- Experience of working with stakeholders at various levels, including providing guidance and using influencing skills with senior leaders.
- Evidence of affinity with, and passion for, diversity, equity, and inclusion campaigns.
- Ability to demonstrate experience of continuous development of internal communication tools, identifying methods of improving the offering of the function.
- Ability to interpret and present data in an engaging manner, including presenting campaign evaluation to individual business areas and demonstrating how the function adds value.

Desirable:

- Knowledge of the gambling sector/public sector.
- Knowledge of communications strategy planning frameworks (e.g., OASIS) or ability to learn.

We do this by keeping crime out, protecting children and vulnerable people and ensuring the commercial gambling industry is run fairly and openly. We work with the legal system, the public health system, community groups and the industry itself to understand how we can protect the interests of as many people as possible, as effectively as possible.
