Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, and bronchial provocation tests.
Calibrate and maintain pulmonary function testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Assist healthcare providers in interpreting test results and making treatment recommendations.
Educate patients on the purpose of pulmonary function testing and provide instructions for proper test performance.
Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the testing process.
Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive respiratory care.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Certification as a Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Needs an Associate’s Degree to be a CPFT; additional education or training in respiratory therapy or a related field preferred
Strong understanding of pulmonary anatomy and physiology
Proficiency in performing pulmonary function tests and interpreting results
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
