We are working on behalf of one of our clients who are currently embracing an exciting phase of change and expansion, especially within the realms of planning, regeneration, and housing. They are on the lookout for a dynamic Planning Manager. This pivotal role is at the heart of steering and realising high-quality developments. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in contributing to a strategic local development plan, fostering new partnerships, and advancing developments in housing and regeneration.

Flexible Working Arrangement: This role embraces a hybrid working model, requiring office presence for 2-3 days a week, with flexibility to work from home on remaining days.
Core Responsibilities
* Playing a key role in achieving our client's corporate objectives and priorities.
* Driving the agenda for continuous service delivery improvement and excellence in external performance assessments.
* Ensuring development management adheres to the highest design and place-making standards, collaborating closely with developers.
* Leading the Development Management and Enforcement Service, supporting the overarching management of Development Services, and contributing to corporate projects.
* Providing professional planning advice, upholding the highest standards of professional integrity.
* Overseeing the delivery of comprehensive development management and enforcement services.
* Maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, ensuring consistent decision-making and effective Local Plan implementation.
Service Management
* Directing all development management and enforcement planning tasks, offering advice and guidance in line with policies and procedures.
* Establishing best practices and integrating these into service plans, budgets, and monitoring activities.
* Managing recruitment, staff development plans, appraisals, and identifying training needs.
* Contributing to corporate projects and, if necessary, acting as deputy to the Assistant Director of Development Services.
* Staying abreast of best practices, legislation, and current planning issues to spearhead service and operational enhancements.
What You Will Bring
* Proven experience in Planning, either within a local authority or the private sector.
* Degree-level education in a relevant field or equivalent experience and knowledge.
* Strong capability to forge positive and effective relationships with planning partners, boasting excellent communication, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
* Exceptional project planning, management, and delivery competences, with the ability to multitask and adhere to strict deadlines.
