You will be an experienced, enthusiastic and independent process engineer who will identify and develop improvement projects. You'll join a site team that is highly production focused and committed to the site's safety and environmental performance. And you'll also be part of the wider Argent team, networking with project engineers at our production sites in the UK.
Working as part of the site team, you'll use your process engineering and production plant experience to help solve operational issues and optimize production. Where there are bottlenecks, you'll develop solutions and implement projects with the site project engineers and EPCm contractors.
The site will commission new plants in 2024 and 2025. Supporting and developing these plants after commissioning will give you ample opportunity to develop further in this role.Main Purpose of JobThe Biodiesel production will be further expanded in the coming year through the construction of our new factory at our location in Amsterdam. Our biodiesel production will increase significantly by the expansion in the coming year(s). Therefore, we need to expand our project- & process engineering team with a Project / Process Engineer (Fulltime) based in Amsterdam.
Operational Responsibilities:
  • Develop a portfolio of projects focused on environmental, safety and production improvements. Projects could range from >£2mln plant extensions to small pipework modifications for improved environmental improvements;
  • Co-ordinate with the site team to prioritise projects and resources, focussing resources on the improvements that most benefit the site;
  • Deliver clear scopes for implementation, working closely with operations, maintenance, the project team, Argent's HSE team and contractors;
  • Support the execution of projects, working with Argent's and contractor's project engineers;
  • Ensure flawless commissioning with operations; supporting the development of Standard Operating Procedures, training materials etc.;
  • Use the site's management of change process to ensure that all changes are safe, compliant and reliable. You will be a process engineering signatory for the management of change process;
  • Support the site team in trouble-shooting operational issues and optimising plant performance;
  • Work closely with the procurement team to develop and implement contracting strategies - get Argent the best possible value for money;
  • Plan and participate in Process Safety workshops including HAZOPs and Area Classification reviews. Manage the workshop facilitators to ensure consistent output for Argent;
  • Work closely with Argent's other process and project engineers; share knowledge, improve ways of working and provide process engineering support where necessary;
  • Develop projects for other Argent sites when they have high levels of investment. This may require travel to sites in the UK.

In addition, you will bring the following:
  • Chemical Engineering degree, or equivalent, with 'chartership' preferred;
  • Project engineering experience and desire to lead your own projects;
  • Continuous Improvement training useful;
  • Experience working in a process plant is essential, with Manufacturing, Process or Chemical background;
  • Experience of change management within a challenging environment;
  • Proven track record of developing successful projects;
  • Excellent facilitation skills to engage a cross-functional team towards a desired outcome;
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire actions
  • Commercial acumen with strong business analytical skills
