Invision Recruitment is collaborating with a Tier 1 Main Contractor, a leader in the industry with a turnover of billions annually. We are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team for an exciting project valued over £100 million. Reporting directly to the Project Commercial Manager, this role offers the opportunity to be part of a prestigious project, building a new centre for a well-known hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
* Integrate the commercial strategy, adapting it as the project evolves.
* Liaise with and influence the team members and construction process from a commercial standpoint.
* Take ownership of commercial and contractual issues, including preparing tenders, selecting subcontractors, and managing finances to final account completion.
* Prepare forecasts, targets, and cost value reconciliations.
* Manage valuations, variations, and final accounts.
* Contribute to value engineering and design development.
* Oversee junior commercial staff and support tender processes.
* Ensure effective cash management and timely payments.
* Manage contracts and claims, including interpretation and resolution.
Experience & Skills:
* Demonstrated ability to manage people and situations for commercial advantage.
* Commercially inventive and astute with a strong sense of ownership and awareness.
* Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
* Experience mentoring and managing others.
* Capable of balancing assertiveness and pragmatism with stakeholders.
* Proficient in managing large-scale projects and negotiations.
* Skilled in drafting contractual correspondence and reports.
* Experience in leading commercial delivery of large projects.
* Ability to tailor communications and articulate complex ideas clearly.
* Detailed understanding of contract conditions, legal aspects, and procurement processes.
Required Qualifications/Training:
* Commercial appreciation and behavioural-based safety.
* Adjudication/dispute resolution and leadership skills.
* Management and legal overview training.
* Continuous professional development in legislation and industry trends.
* Cost value reconciliation and presentation skills.
