Finance Director

The Company:

We are recruiting for a profitable and sizeable privately owned business based in Nottingham. Following their demerger from a larger Group they have invested heavily in their business infrastructure (people, processes and systems) to establish a well-run and profitable stand-alone organisation with no external debt. Following this period of consolidation, they are now looking to grow the business organically and potentially by acquisition as well, as part of their 5-year strategic plan.

The Opportunity:

This a great leadership opportunity for a Finance Director with a broad SME skills base to manage; Finance, Operations & IT to help this business on the next phase of their journey. Reporting directly to the CEO and majority shareholder you will be a vital part of the Senior Management team at the heart of the business tasked with both formulating and executing the commercial growth strategy. With full responsibility for all financial, operational, commercial and strategic aspects of the company’s business and long-term strategy you will need to demonstrate exceptional commercial acumen and strategic business insight.

Key Responsibilities:

* Full responsibility for the leadership and development of the finance team to ensure all targets and deadlines are achieved

* Working with the Financial Controller to have oversight for all monthly and year end accounting activities including, monthly management accounts, statutory accounts, compliance and presentation of monthly Board reporting pack

* Responsible for cashflow management, working capital foreign exchange and treasury

* Driving profitability with prudent cost control and developing operational aware KPIs and value-added commercial information to support the growth plans

* Lead the budgeting, forecasting and planning process

* Promote process and efficiency improvements exploring opportunities for automation

* Maintain and develop improved and robust financial systems and controls

* Responsibility for the IT team and strategy, taking the lead on new projects working with external IT vendors

* Developing commercial and operational strategies with the Senior Management Team to facilitate the growth plans

* Lead on supplier and lease negotiations to ensure best value for money

* Manage the external relationships with all third party external advisors, in particular with the banks and auditors

* Advise the CEO and Senior Management Team on all matters relating to financial and operational performance

Skills & Experience Required:

* A fully qualified accountant ACA, ACCA or ACMA with significant post qualification experience operating at senior management or board level

* Strong hands on commercial operational and finance experience of working within a privately owned SME business

* Ideally, experience gained from a fast-moving sector such as distribution, wholesale, retail or FMCG/Food manufacturing

* Proven experience in successfully leading and managing multiple teams and a genuine interest in helping and developing individuals to attain and exceed their career aspirations

* Outstanding communication and influencing skills with the ability to challenge in the right way at the right time

* Business acumen with the ability to understand industry trends of both external and internal factors in order to positively influence the commercial direction of the business

* Highly developed analytical and negotiating skills utilised with external parties

* An agile leader with a proactive and adaptable mindset able to make decisions rapidly and decisively in a pressurised commercial environment

* Total Package of £100,000

* Basic Salary Range £75,000 - £90,000
