We have an exciting opportunity for a Responsible Individual to join our well established children's home in the Birmingham area. 

We are looking for a passionate and experienced childcare professional who is dedicated to provided exceptional care and support to children and young people in a residential family-like setting. As a Responsible Individual, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the smooth running of the home and be responsible for the supervision of the staff. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care, and so are looking for someone enthusiastic at the prospect of making an impact on young people's lives in Birmingham.

Job Purpose

Supervise and motivate the management of the children's home consistent with the approach and ethos of the home and to represent the home at a strategic level.

Take responsibility for the management oversight of safeguarding children and young people, risk, and service governance.

Ensure the home is led and managed in such a way as to be consistent with the home's approach and ethos.

Ensure children and young people access services that meet their health, education, social, psychological, and emotional needs, and well-being.

Ensure the children's home is fully prepared and ready for Ofsted inspection.

Ensure a social inclusion focus is embedded within services.

Quality and Service Development

Ensure quality monitoring and health and safety assessments are conducted, and action plans are implemented.

Ensure risk assessments are in place to protect children and staff.

Oversee responses to complaints in line with the home’s policy and timescales.

Demonstrate service compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations, Children’s Homes Quality Standards, and the Social care common inspection framework (SCCIF).

Skills and Experience

Educated to degree level (with a qualification in team management, professional supervision of management, quality management).

Evidence of work-related continuous management development and strategic management responsibility.

Experience in roles requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a children’s care role.

Extensive Ofsted experience: accessing, care planning, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating outcomes.

Knowledge of law and practice relating to safety of children and young people.

Experience within Budget and Resource management.

Full time and part time considered.
