Overview:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will oversee various accounting functions, including financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to drive process improvements.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and other financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify trends.
Evaluate financial performance, variances, and forecasts to provide insights and recommendations to management.
Develop and maintain financial models to assess business performance and profitability.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop accurate and achievable budgets.
Prepare periodic forecasts and variance analyses to track performance against budget and identify areas for improvement.
Provide guidance and support to junior staff in budgeting and forecasting activities.
General Ledger Management:
Oversee general ledger maintenance and reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Review and approve journal entries and adjustments to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies.
Audit Support and Compliance:
Coordinate and assist with external audits, including preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
Address audit inquiries and findings, and implement recommendations for process improvements.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements, collaborating with tax advisors as needed.
Team Leadership and Development:
Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Train and develop junior staff in accounting principles, processes, and software applications.
Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for accounting-related inquiries and projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Extensive knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting, and analysis.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve departmental goals.
