The Field Dock & Door Service Technician will Install, Diagnose, and Repair Warehouse Docks and Doors by evaluating equipment to determine needed repairs, performing repairs while providing quote information for customers and managing time for efficiency.
Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Repairs Warehouse Docks and Rollup Doors Bydriving to customer location to evaluate job
assessing environment and scope of work to determine safest way to proceed
evaluating equipment based on reported problem
diagnosing malfunctioning equipment
discussing evaluation with customer and provide estimated time for completion
communicating with parts department to order or quote parts pricing to customer
following any current policies
ordering necessary parts
replacing faulty parts
repairing unit to bring it to operational and safety standards
following customer direction on what is to be done and what is not to be done
2. Provides Information on Repairs Bykeeping Product Support Sales Team and Field Service Manager involved in evaluation results providing the customer with possible solutions to downtime
updating service department (Field Service Manager and Field Service Coordinator) of progress on each job assigned
3. Manages Time Efficiently Byplanning and organizing days workload based on service calls/parts availability utilizing time to minimize lost time
filling out or notifying Field Service Coordinator of daily time sheets referencing each job worked on, time spent with a detailed description of scope of work and accurate hours
4. Contributes to the Team Effort Byparticipating in on-call rotating schedule and responding as required when on-call
assisting other technicians as needed or directed by supervisor
maintaining truck/van in safe and clean condition
Other Duties:
1. Maintains Technical Knowledge By
attending training schools
reviewing technical manuals
2. Performs Warranty Requirements By
following manufacturer procedures when repairing equipment under warranty
completing necessary paperwork
tagging and returning all defective parts to/or notifying Field Service Coordinator, to be placed in bin
following local policy on parts warranty, tagging and returning to Parts Manager
3. Performs Requirements of Driving Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV){for techs driving a DOT rated vehicle} By
maintaining record of duty status and hours of service that meet FMCSA requirements
completing annual certification of traffic violations form
performing daily pre inspections of vehicle
having knowledge of short haul operation exemptions
4. Assists New Sales Department By
completing New Sales Department prep and paperwork on larger equipment in the field
5. Any Other Duties as Assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Experience
minimum 2 years experience installing and repairing loading dock equipment, commercial doors, high-speed doors.
possessing complete line of tools including specialized tools needed to complete job at customer site
electrical experience, including proper use of a multimeter, a plus
minimum 21 years of age
valid driver's license and safe driving record
requires obtaining DOT Medical Certification {for techs assigned to DOT rated vehicle}
ability to obtain forklift certification
above average communication skills
ability to read or be trained in reading schematics
ability to work independently with minimal supervision
having general knowledge of operating various equipment
ability to accomplish duties with accuracy and timeliness
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
This position will be working in operating facilities and outdoors traveling to numerous customer locations. The employee will encounter varying weather conditions and temperatures. The normal auto hazards will apply.
This position will be frequently working on equipment with potential hazard. Appropriate safety equipment and practices are required.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Occasionally may be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds. Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
Position requires sitting, standing, walking, twisting, climbing and crawling
Position requires bending, stooping, kneeling or squatting handling/fingering and outward reaching on a daily basis.
Position requires driving van/truck to and from customer locations
Must be able to wear safety glasses and safety shoes
Must be medically capable of performing all aspects of the job with the maximum amount of safety. (Initial hire requires passing of pre-employment background check, physical abilities test, drug test and driving record)
This position is deemed a Safety Sensitive job for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment, the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and the Louisiana Therapeutic Marijuana Act.
