Non- Executive Director - Audit and Risk Committee
We are looking to recruit an individual with a wealth of executive-level experience gained from a substantial commercial service delivery organisation to operate as a collaborative Non-Executive Director (NED), working with the Board of Suffolk Group Holdings (Trading as Vertas Group) and the Vertas Group executive team.

Role Overview
As a Non-Executive Director of our Audit and Risk Committee you will bring depth, experience, and insight to our Board and executive team, contributing appropriate independent oversight and support to help shape the future of the business and ensure alignment with vision, purpose, values, and growth objectives.

You will actively contribute to the business, using your expertise in navigating the complexities of large commercial environments to offer constructive challenge and help refine our approach to risk management, operational efficiency, and commercial strategy.

As a member of the Audit and Risk Committee you will review general policy and performance of the Group in relation to Audit and Risk Committee items and recommend appropriate means to enhance performance, manage risk and achieve corporate goals, ensuring that high levels of accountability, best practice, and corporate governance are delivered.

Key Responsibilities

Offer strategic and commercial insights, along with independent, constructive challenges to enhance business success.
Provide independent and impartial counsel across all levels of leadership, contributing to the company's strategic objectives and performance goals.
Scrutinise and monitor the company's performance in meeting agreed goals and strategic objectives.
Probe, question and encourage the development and formulation of strategy.
Avoid any conflicts of interest.
Uphold the Nolan Principles of Public Life.
NEDs may in some circumstances serve as a point of contact for shareholders and directors for occasional ad-hoc advice.Who we are looking for:
We are seeking someone with previous experience in an executive career (Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer level) in a large complex commercial service delivery organisation who can add value to committee discussions.

Individuals with experience as a Non-Executive Director and up to date knowledge of executive leadership in an operational context.
Leaders with a history of managing progressive operational teams across the UK.
Experts in corporate governance with a keen interest in Suffolk's current affairs.Commitment & Remuneration
The role requires a commitment of 10-14 days per year, including:

Up to 6 Audit & Risk Committee meetings
Up to 2 business planning sessions
Main Board attendance as needed
Occasional eventsIn return an annual remuneration of £10,850 is offered for this appointment.
