We are working with one of the most renowned and busiest regional civil engineering contractors in South Wales. They have secured many sizeable and challenging civil projects within the region and won multiple long-term frameworks.

As a result of their extensive pipeline of future work, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team, focusing on the commercial & contractual delivery of highway frameworks.

The successful candidate will work as part of a well-drilled commercial team, reporting directly to the commercial manager.

Responsibilities:

1. Cost Management: Manage all aspects of project costs, including cost estimation, cost control, and budgeting throughout the project lifecycle.

2. Procurement: Oversee procurement processes, including tendering, negotiating contracts, and managing subcontractors.

3. Contract Administration: Ensure compliance with NEC forms of contract, including administering contracts, issuing notifications, and resolving contractual disputes.

4. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

5. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial reports, including cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analysis.

6. Value Engineering: Collaborate with the project team to identify value engineering opportunities, optimizing project outcomes.

7. Change Management: Manage change control processes, including assessing variations, negotiating change orders, and maintaining accurate records.

8. Stakeholder Management: Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

9. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contract documents, correspondence, and records of project events.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying

2. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering projects, particularly within highways framework, bridges, and asset maintenance.

3. Strong knowledge of NEC forms of contract and experience in contract administration.

4. Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.

5. Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.

6. Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

7. Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS) is desirable but not essential
