Principle Purpose of Position:
To support the Structural Engineer in their role of providing technical support and assurance to the growing business, across all product ranges. This will involve both independent work and collaboration to produce site or item specific calculations, to guide the design process. The successful candidate shall work both on live Projects and upon Product Development, to enhance our current product range. ​Value Engineering exercise will also be undertaken.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
* To provide a range of calculations to support our design proposals, to identify necessary amendments and to assess impacts to the proposed solutions.
* Undertaking integrated modelling, preparing calculations, reports, specifications and drawings.
* Provide input into risk assessments and method statements/O&M manuals as appropriate.
* Task management and delivery to the highest standards, demonstrating all round technical competence and financial awareness.
* Prepare client and project proposals, including feasibility studies.
* Production of Internally & Externally facing Reports.
* Support the Westgate Global Product/Materials Testing Programme.
* Requirements to attend occasional site meetings and site inspections.
* Support the production of Temporary Works Designs and Design checks.
* Support work winning activities and the estimation team by ensuring the suitability of our proposed products and solutions for a potential client’s site environment.
* To contribute to the standardisation of our products, as part of a development team.
* To undertake tasks and projects as allocated by the Structural Engineer.

Qualifications
* Required: Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
* Required: Degree or equivalent in either Engineering or Structural Engineering
* Support towards Chartered Status will be provided.

Experience
* An ability to apply BS Standards Eurocodes to design applications.
* Experience of designs using different materials - steel, concrete and timber desirable, including familiarity with connection designs for these materials.
* An existing ability to provide wind loading calculations and to predict their effect upon proposed structures would be highly desirable, with experience in other loading codes for snow and imposed loadings advantageous.
* Fully IT literate with experience of structural design software packages and AutoCAD.
