Job Description:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and ambitious Junior Staff Accountant to join our team. This entry-level position is perfect for recent graduates or individuals looking to start their career in accounting. As a Junior Staff Accountant, you will work closely with our accounting team to support various financial tasks and gain hands-on experience in a professional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts by recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring data integrity.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions by processing invoices, payments, and receipts, and assisting with reconciliations as needed.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, under the supervision of senior accounting staff.
Bank Reconciliations: Participate in monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize company expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Assistance with Audits: Provide support to senior accountants during internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries as required.
Tax Preparation: Assist in gathering information and preparing tax returns, including corporate income tax returns and sales tax filings.
Financial Analysis: Assist in analyzing financial data and preparing reports to support decision-making and planning processes.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function, and participate in implementing changes as directed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
0-2 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment. Recent graduates with internships or co-op experience are also encouraged to apply.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
A proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
