Bonum Therapeutics, Inc. is an early-stage biotech company creating a new class of immuno-oncology protein therapeutics that are delivered systemically but activated locally.
We are seeking a senior scientist to join our growing team.  As part of a well-supported and integrated group, the individual will help drive our strategy to purify and characterize novel antibody-like proteins and advance our drugs into the clinic. Responsibilities:
Manage a team of scientists to purify and characterize various recombinant proteins (antibodies, Fc-fusion proteins, bispecific-like formats, etc.) to support multiple ongoing preclinical programs
Analyze protein production and analytical data, drive strategies for achieving desired mass and quality in a timely manner
Employ a variety of biophysical techniques to characterize protein quality and stability during storage and use
Review purification data in electronic notebook entries for completeness and accuracy
Coordinate purification activities with mol/bio expression lead and supervisor
Communicate with staff members in other functional areas regarding status of critical reagents
Explore new technologies for protein production and characterization
Implement approaches for higher throughput protein purification
Requirements
BS/MS with 12+ years of experience, or PhD with 5+ years with significant experience purifying antibody-based formats using affinity and traditional chromatography methods
Previous supervisory experience, including setting priorities, scheduling activities and enabling career development opportunities for staff members
Significant experience with Cytiva AKTA preparative chromatography platforms and Agilent HPLC systems in the purification of proteins
Experience performing and analyzing results of SDS-PAGE, Western blot, IEF, DSF, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry and other common protein analysis techniques
Solid understanding of protein structure, impact of charge, hydrophobicity, etc. on solubility and stability
Ability to work efficiently and independently in a dynamic team environment
Attentive to details and able to contribute effectively as part of a team.
Excellent record keeping and communication skills
Enthusiasm to learn and to develop new methods
The annual salary range for the position is $140k - $170k. Job level and compensation will depend on the qualifications of the final candidate.
